3D Scanners

Intraoral scanners allow our team to get vivid digital impressions of your teeth faster, but more importantly, more accurately.

The Shining 3D Aoralscan 3 is used in our office for a variety of different situations. We use it for bridges, implants, crowns, veneers, night guards, sports guards, retainers, and dentures (we said a variety!).

How it works

This scanner takes hundreds of pictures and stitches them all together to create an incredibly accurate digital model of your mouth (which you can watch in action on screen). Once the model is generated, our team has a great view of your teeth and gums, making it easier to examine them from multiple angles in real time. This means more effective treatment plans tailored to YOUR needs.

Benefits

On our end, it means a much easier process with our laboratory technicians. The benefit of this to you is it saves a lot of waiting time. In most cases, we no longer have to pour and set models of your teeth, wait for the courier pick up, and have the lab start working on the order. The digital scanner sends the 3D model directly to them, cutting down on lead times, and delivering more accurate results.

The 3D visualizations the scanner creates also means better treatment plans. Bonus: it creates an Oral Health Report that includes information on things like dental caries, missing teeth, calculus, pigment, and more to give you a better understanding of your oral health.

3D Printing

Using a 3D scanner also ties into our 3D printer! We use the Shining 3D AccuFab-L4D 3D printer, which connects to the Aoralscan.

It works similarly to any 3D printer, where a UV sensitive resin is cured layer by layer until a full model is created. We use these models to create things like nightguards, whitening trays, and study models.
