Implant Dentistry: The Costs and Benefits of Dental Implants

What is Implant Dentistry?

What is Implant dentistry? You’ve probably heard of it before as it isn’t a new discovery or ability within the world of dentistry, but you may not know exactly what implant dentistry is or what the benefits of dental implants are for you. Let us fill you in!

Implant dentistry first entered into thwore dentistry world almost 70 years ago and is the practice of inserting a man made, root shaped titanium structure into the jaw bone that allowed for either single or multiple tooth replacement and denture support.

In a nutshell, dental implants are artificial roots that are used to help restore and replace missing teeth. The process has evolved greatly since the 50’s and has played a very important role in restoring smiles more permanently.

Implant Dentistry at Advanced Dental Arts

Our experience with implant dentistry goes back over 30 years, and we’ve had the chance to work with oral surgeons and periodontists to more permanently restore the smiles of those who previously were missing teeth. The confidence a beautiful smile can provide is incredible.

Dental Implant Cost

Dental implants can vary in both timeline and costs. For some patients, we can turn around an implant and have teeth in a day, while in more complex cases it can be more like 4-5 months of time. Typical fees for a single implant involving surgery and a crown can range from $3,800 to $5,000. The best candidates for this type of work are those who are healthy, don’t smoke and do not have uncontrolled diabetes. We always take the time to ensure that each patient fully understands the timelines, costs and concerns associated with their individual case.

Benefits of Dental Implants

One of my most memorable cases was when I placed a lower screwed in denture into one of my patients and that allowed her to eat steak and corn on the cob for the first time in over 15 years. It may seem silly to those reading this, but even something as simple as eating steak and corn on the cob can be celebrated.

As always, the best way to avoid costly dental procedures and maintain good oral health is by visiting your dental health professional regularly and maintaining proper oral care at home.
